Lucille M. Blount |

Lucille Mae Elizabeth Blount, 88 of Hartwick, passed away on March 3rd, 2010 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center where she had been a resident since October.
Lucille was born to Frank and Elizabeth Kroul on September 6, 1921 in Koszta, Ia. She graduated with the class of 1939 from Belle Plaine as the valedictorian. She married Edwin H Blount on February 27, 1941.
Lucille loved being on the farm as a homemaker and was passionate about helping out family and friends. She spent many years selling farm fresh eggs, and poultry. She really enjoyed looking after others, gardening, cooking, baking and making her famous pizzeles. She was an Amway distributor for many years and also worked at Miller Jewelry in Belle Plaine.
Lucille was a member of Christ United Methodist Church as well as the UMW, Sunny Monday Club and was a volunteer and advocate at the Belle Plaine Nursing & Rehab Center.
Lucille's family was the joy of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Bill) Vileta of Brooklyn, grandchildren, Bob Vileta, Alisa (Paul) Theis, Trent (Susan) Vileta and great grandchildren Brandon, Mandi, Emma and Will Vileta and Nate and Kristi Theis. Daughter Karen (Harry) Popelka of Vinton, grandchildren, Elon Johnston, Heidi (Brian) Jones, Travis Popelka, Cory (Laura) Popelka, and great grandchildren, Trevor and Alan Johnston, Tyler, Tristyn and Jackson Popelka. Son Rod (Vicki) Blount of Belle Plaine, grandchildren Jenni (Shawn) Blount-Gordon, Charlie (Debbie) Blount and great grandchildren Ella and Else Gordon and Isabelle Blount, Daughter Annette Allee of Belle Plaine, grandchildren Sarah (Eric) Smith, Kyle (Carolyn) Allee and great granddaughter Mackenzie Allee.
Per Lucille's wishes her body was cremated. There will be no visitation.Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. James Campbell presiding. Family and friends are welcome. A gathering time to celebrate her life with family and friends will follow the service at Annette's home at 1002 18th St Belle Plaine.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Edith Albert, her husband Edwin, her son in law Dennis Allee and a great grandson, Andy Vileta.
A memorial fund has been established.
